Villa Semarapura is a beachfront villa, located between Canggu and Tanah Lot, just over 30 minutes drive from Seminyak on Bali’s southwest coast. This private Bali rental villa is comprised of a series of pavilions, swimming pool and ornamental ponds, leisurely spread throughout an expansive acre and a bit of rolling lawns. The five expansive bedrooms within the villa are hugely spacious. All have timber floors and all are equipped with TVs, DVD players and iPod docks. Four bedrooms are furnished with king size beds and one is furnished with twin beds that can be converted to a king bed.

All have walk-in wardrobes apart from the twin bedroom, where the wardrobes are positioned in the corridor. Ensuite bathrooms feature andesite floors, granite vanities, white bathtubs and walk in showers. Four of the bathrooms boast an outdoor shower as well as an indoor shower.

The standalone Master Suite is blessed with beautiful views. It features an entrance hallway, full length walk in robes, and a bathroom with double washbasins and a double bathtub extending into a large private garden, which is the location of the open air shower. At the front is a covered terrace leading onto a timber deck with a Jacuzzi. Additionally, steps lead down to a private bale relaxation pavilion, bordered by plants for privacy.There is also a double hammock.

Two of the guest bedrooms are complemented by a private garden area with a pergola covered daybed. There is a separate guest suite set on two levels comprising a spacious master guest bedroom with its own hallway, walk-in robe, large bathroom with double basins and private terrace area overlooking the lush gardens to the ocean. Semarapura boasts a dining service with a wonderful array of international dishes. Many Western meals are available, but we recommend you to try some of the local Balinese dishes for a unique cultural experience!

Master Bedrooms
The two, sizeable, master bedrooms are located on the upper floor of the main building. Each is air-conditioned and each features a teakwood floor, a dressing area and an ensuite bathroom; each is complemented by a rooftop terrace with a lovely view of the garden, the neighbouring fields and a glimpse of the ocean. Both master bedrooms are furnished with a California king size bed, one of which is a zip-lock bed that can be converted into twin beds. Each room also presents teak wardrobes, shelf units, a desk, an upholstered daybed and a 32″ satellite TV. Sliding doors lead from these master bedrooms into their respective ensuite bathrooms. Each spacious master bathroom is fitted with a bathtub with handheld shower, a double vanity unit with a large wall mirror and twin washbasins, and a toilet. Guest Room
There is a small air-conditioned guestroom on the ground floor complete with double bed, teak wardrobes, a built-in desk, lamps and artwork. Guest House
The self-contained guest house offers independence and privacy; it is quite separate from the main building and accessed by a wooden bridge over an ornamental pond. This single-storey building incorporates two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, and a centrally positioned, open-sided, living & dining area complete with a small kitchen. The living space is furnished with segmented sofas and a glass-topped coffee table, and equipped with a satellite TV/DVD player, Nintendo Wii game system and an iPod dock. There is also a dining table for six. The kitchen is fitted with a two-burner gas hob, a refrigerator and cupboards. Of the two bedrooms, one is furnished with a king size bed, and the other with a king size zip-lock bed that can be converted to twin beds. The guest office & library is located on the upper floor landing of the main building. This cool breezy space is comfortably furnished with sofas, chairs, an ottoman and a coffee table. It is decorated with local artwork and equipped with a computer and fax printer.

The air-conditioned Gym is a single-storey stand-alone building, located close to the swimming pool. It has a mirrored wall, sliding glass doors and is fully equipped with a treadmill, upright exercise bike, Concept2 Indoor Rower, multigym, free weights, adjustable bench, stretching and yoga mats, and an exercise ball. There is also an iPod dock.

Living Room
The spacious living room is located poolside with glass doors on two sides that can be fully opened to create an open-air tropical living experience with the addition of a fan. Alternatively, the doors can be closed for air-conditioned comfort. The room features a cool tiled floor, upholstered chairs and segmented sofas, and is equipped with a 42″ satellite TV and DVD player.

Dining Room & Kitchen
The large air-conditioned dining room is furnished with a table for 12, and also features a ceiling fan, mood lighting and sliding doors, which open onto the pool terrace. More doors on the opposite side can be opened to allow for cross ventilation and access into a walled garden area, bordered by a pond with bulrushes and lilies. At the far end of the dining room is an open-plan, fully equipped, feature kitchen with a marble work top, a central island, stylish white cupboards and stainless steel appliances. There is also a service kitchen and laundry hidden away behind the main kitchen.

There is large open-sided ‘bale’ pavilion in the garden, with a raised wooden floor and a high roof, rattan sofas and a dining table for eight. It is cooled by natural breezes and two ceiling fans.

The extensive walled garden is stunningly landscaped around the 20 x 5 metre swimming pool, which is ideal for swimming laps. The flat green lawns are punctuated by palms, fragrant frangipanis, and other flowering trees. A wide timber deck, furnished with sunloungers and umbrellas, borders the infinity edge pool, which is lined with rustic Java stone. Every guest need has been considered with the provision of a pool bar, a pool shower and a guest washroom and toilet. There is even a surf board for guest use.

Villa Tukad Pangi is not your average Bali villa. Sure, it’s stylish – in fact it recently featured in the Brava Casa interior magazine.

But unlike some of those clinically chic places that border on being soulless, Villa Tukad Pangi is all about design that makes you feel thoroughly at ease.

Consider the lounge. The built-in couches are generously long and wide, more like a day bed really. They feature extra-broad edges, so you never need to reach far for that book, or drink. And when it’s time for something more active, the upper pool is literally a couple of steps away. The retractable 145 inch projector screen is equally user-friendly. One touch and it descends from the lounge ceiling, after which you’re all set for Cable TV or a movie from our wide selection of DVDs.

Your bedroom has huge glass sliding doors and wooden venetian blinds. Open them and Bali floods in. Close them, and you can seal yourself off for some peace and quiet. You needn’t leave the room for entertainment; there’s a 26′ flat screen TV and 5.1 Channel Home Theatre speaker system. The sub-woofer sits under your bed, so you don’t just watch movies: you feel them. Last but certainly not least, the ensuite bathroom features a classic, open-to-the-skies Balinese shower surrounded by native plants. The large “Rain head” makes bathing even more of an indulgence.

From the lower infinity pool you’ll look out over the Pangi river and padi fields that stretch from across the opposite bank and off into the distance. You’re close to nature here. Butterflies flit past, dragonflies hover in the sunlight and birdsong mingles with the melody of the river. This pool is especially refreshing and not just because of the view it’s shaded by palms and towering gatep trees.

When you emerge from the lower pool, the Bale awaits. A Bale is a traditional gazebo found throughout Indonesia. The Tukad Pangi version is fully equipped with a ceiling fan, power points and reading lights, making it an excellent place to lounge, day or night.

It’s also ideal for some serious pampering. One of the highlights of your stay here will be a massage in the Bale, with the soothing sounds of the river to complete the experience.

Then there’s The Studio. Think of it as a multimedia room on steroids. It boasts an 84″Absolute projector screen, Infocus DLP Home Theater projector, DVD Player, Cable TV and Yamaha Home Theatre Surround Sound System.

Help yourself to our DVD library, or if you’ve brought your own entertainment, hook up your laptop to the projector using the pre-installed VGA cabling. Likewise, the Yamaha sound system has audio connections for your iPod or Smartphone.

The kitchen. One of the most important rooms in the Villa, because we believe great food is essential for a great holiday. That’s why we pride ourselves on providing you with an excellent menu. Our cook, Nyoman, has worked in some of Bali’s leading restaurants including Ku de Ta. So he’s equally adept at Asian and Western cuisine

Exploring the surroundings. A great way to do this is by bicycle. There are two “Monarch 6″ mountain bikes at your disposal. One of the most pleasant cycles is an early morning jaunt to Pererenan beach. It will take approximately 10 minutes and you can take in the sights and sounds of village life on the way there. If you’d rather walk, an evening stroll to Pererenan beach to view the sunset is highly recommended: it can be spectacular.

Casa Evaliza Villa is a spacious Bali rental villa, located 400 metres from the beach in the upmarket Oberoi area on Bali’s southwest coast. The contemporary Balinese architectural design presents a splendid, single-storey, thatched pavilion housing a living & dining area, air-conditioned TV room with a sofa-bed, and modern kitchen; this is adjacent to a two-storey building incorporating four air-conditioned bedrooms complete with ensuite bathrooms, a balcony and a terrace.

Entrance
Casa Evaliza Villa is located in a secure gated area next door to the prestigious ‘Club at The Legian’ and therefore well protected by the Club’s security team as well as the Villa’s own security guards. Guests have use of the car park at The Club and the villa itself is accessed via a short pathway capped with a pergola draped in flowering bougainvillea.

Living & Dining Pavilion
The expansive Living & Dining Pavilion is characterised by a soaring ‘alang alang’ thatched roof, cream terrazzo floor, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that run the length of the building and along one side. These doors can folded open to create an open-air, tropical living experience beside the garden and swimming pool. The pavilion is cooled by six powerful ceiling fans. At one side of the room is a dining table, comfortably seating ten on rattan chairs. The cream walls are adorned with local artwork and the centre of the room is furnished with two cushioned rattan sofas and ottomans, a large coffee table, lamps and an antique Javanese ‘gerobok’ chest on wooden wheels, originally used for storing rice. A romantic, canopied daybed rests in the corner beside an antique table.

TV Room
The TV Room is located on the ground floor next to the Living & Dining Pavilion. This cosy, air-conditioned room is accessed by folding glass doors and features a cool terrazzo floor. It is furnished with a comfortable sofa bed and equipped with bookshelves, a satellite-channel TV & DVD/CD player and a computer. WiFi Internet access is available.

Master Suite
The Master Suite covers the ground floor of the two-storey building. The suite is dominated by a king-size, netted bed and the walls display colourful paintings. This generously-sized bedroom also incorporates a sitting area furnished with a desk, shelf unit, lamps, sofa, coffee table, desk and a huge satellite-channel TV with DVD and sound system. A window to one side overlooks a small pebbled garden.

The grand, ensuite, air-conditioned bathroom is accessed via sliding doors. It features an avocado-green terrazzo floor and a huge central bathtub. A double vanity unit is fashioned in the same green terrazzo and presents two mirrors and twin washbasins. There is also a walk-in shower and a toilet hidden within an alcove. Floor-to-ceiling mirrored doors slide open to reveal a dressing room, fitted with a wall of rattan-fronted wardrobes.

Sliding glass doors from the bedroom open onto a covered verandah that runs the length of the building and looks out over the garden. It is furnished with a rattan sofa, two rattan chairs and a small table.

Guest Bedrooms
Guest Bedrooms ‘Casa Evaliza 1’ and ‘Casa Evaliza 2’ are located on the upper floor, accessed by a timber-clad staircase. The rooms are bordered by a delightful covered balcony with a timber floor and elevated views of the garden. The balcony runs the length of the building and is furnished with a sofa, rattan chairs and a glass-topped table. These two air-conditioned guest bedrooms feature wooden floors and are equipped with queen-size beds, reading lamps, wardrobes, mirrors and TV/DVD players. Ensuite bathrooms are fashioned in green terrazzo and are fitted with bathtubs, single vanity units, walk-in showers and toilets. Swimming Pool and Garden
The large walled garden is shaded by beautiful mature trees and landscaped with a terraced lawn on two different levels, complete with fragrant frangipani trees and potted bonsais. Palimanan stone steps lead up to the 14.5 x 5 metre swimming pool, which features a dazzling water cascade at one end. A set of wide, grass covered steps extends to a grassy pool deck furnished with sunbeds. Blue Ocean Villa
Blue Ocean is close to the pool has a double bed with separate dressing area and a sitting area with a day bed. It is situated beside the swimming pool but hidden away behind a hedge of hibiscus flowers and flowing fish pond. Blue Ocean has wonderful Ocean views, both from your verandah and even from the comfort of your bed.

Blue Heaven Villa
Blue Heaven is a little further from the swimming pool, set in our lush garden. Blue Heaven also has a double bed with separate dressing area and a sitting area with a day bed. Blue Heaven is more secluded than Blue Ocean, but is of the same design. Blue Heaven also has some ocean views and it is close to our small temple where Balinese offerings are made twice daily.

Blue Star Penthouse 1
Blue Star Penthouse 1 is situated on the top floor of Blue Star Villa. This room has a double bed and a balcony with day beds to relax on. The balcony faces directly out to the ocean horizon and has the privilege of both sunrise and sunset views. It is separated from the other penthouse room by a wide sitting area ensuring privacy.

Blue Star Penthouse 2
Blue Star Penthouse 2 is also situated on the top floor of Blue Star Villa. This room has 2 single beds (these can also be put together to form a double bed) and a smaller balcony. Tucked away on the edge of the rural village of Bingin, set back from the cliff edge and overlooking the stunning Southeast coast of the Bukit Penninsula, is our newly constructed Dreamview hideaway. Bingin is located 35 minutes from both the airport and the main town of Kuta. it is also quite close to one of Bali’s most beautiful temples in Uluwatu. A wonderful combination of Balinese workmanship, Japanese aesthetics and Western architecture has resulted in a high end, modern design, with a distinctive Balinese flavor.

Wide open, both shaded and unshaded, verandas overlook the generously sized swiming pool and gardens, and offer stellar views up and down the coast. Ocean conditions can be monitored from the comforts of home.

Swimming pool
The Dreamview Villa has its own private garden and swimming pool. So if you feel like swimming when you wake up you only have to open your doors and jump in.

The living room is one of the most important spaces in every house. The living room is the heart of the DreamView Villa with plenty of room for the family and guests to gather and relax.

Whether its just the family at home or you are entertaining quests, this living room is supplied with all the things you might need. Widescreen TV, Satellite television, large living area and also a nice dining table.

As soon as you open the floor-to-ceiling glass doors that surround this space, the livingroom expands to the beautiful garden and swimming pool.

Activities
The ocean is very close by so beach activities at some of Bali’s nicest and most secluded beaches are easily accessible. World class surfbreaks are within walking distance.

Bingin, a mechanical and consistently hollow left is a quick walk down the cliff, Dreamland, a more beginner friendly and great longboard wave is less that a ten minute walk away. Surf guides and private drivers are available for $50 and $30 usd a day.

Uluwatu, the location of the most internationally well known and respected wave on the island, and a site for enjoying Balinese dance, is only twenty minutes away.

Kuta for shopping and nightlife is thirtyfive minutes drive.

To rent the whole house is $390 USD per night. We have 3 large rooms with king size beds. Two of the rooms also come with sofa beds. We can also bring in mattresses for extra people if requested. DreamView comfortably sleeps up to 12 people.

The Villa
Villa Talia Vashti is a luxury fully-serviced private villa situated right on the southern shore of the tropical island paradise of Bali, close to the resort of Candi Dasa. The villa comfortably accommodates 6 people (plus an infant) in three suites, each with its own ensuite bathroom and views of the ocean.

The villa is located directly on a private white sand beach with spectacular views across the sea to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, and on a clear day even to Lombok. The beach is sheltered by a coral reef that lies only 100m offshore, which not only provides the beach with shelter from the big waves that roll in from the open ocean, but also means that snorkeling and swimming conditions are ideal for children and adults alike.

Although Villa Talia Vashti lies in a secluded location at the end of a private road, it is less than a few minutes by car from the restaurants and shops of Candi Dasa, which has most facilities that you will need for your stay, or alternatively the laid back bars of Mendira Beach are just a few minutes walk through the coconut plantation next to Villa Talia Vashti.

The Entrance
Once through the main gates, you enter Villa Talia Vashti to find a relaxing water garden. Koi carp and other tropical fish gently swim beneath the stepping stones that make up the path that leads to the Living Room and the two guest suites, with the only sound the gentle splashing of a fountain to disturb you.

The Guest Suites
Each guest suite is beautifully appointed and furnished, with a walk in wardrobe and a fully furnished en-suite bathroom with corner bath and stone shower that is open to air. One suite has a king size double, and the other has large twin beds.

The Living Room
The Living Room is focal point of Villa Talia Vashti. The windows to the front are able to be folded back enabling the living room to be opened up entirely to the Terrace and the sea beyond. The modern yet comfortable lounge area is equipped with Satellite TV and DVD as well as full stereo system.

The Master Suite
Occupying the whole of the upstairs floor, the master suite has complete privacy yet with floor-to-ceiling windows it also offers amazing views out across the ocean and over the beach and coconut palm plantation next to the villa. With windows on both sides of the room the light floods in, and if you tire of the air-conditioning, simply open the windows and let the sea breeze gently waft you to sleep instead.

The master suite actually comprises three separate rooms, with a separate dressing room (which can also be used as a baby room) and a remarkable en-suite bathroom, as well as the main sleeping area complete with king size bed.

For the bathroom prepare yourself for something extraordinary. Beautifully finished in a combination of wood and local stone, the bathroom boasts a stand alone shower and a giant stone bath that is easily big enough to take two persons. The bath has also been raised so that you can actually bathe in luxury while at the same time enjoying fabulous views out of the window to the sea and the islands beyond.

Villa Pantai has two Luxurious Bedroom Suites of generous proportions. Both have their own stylish Ensuite Bathrooms and are air-conditioned for your comfort. They have breathtaking Balcony views of the Indian Ocean, Nusa Penida Island, the surrounding mountains and the private garden enclave at the Villa. The configuration of the Bedrooms is ideally suited to sleep two couples. Two small children can also be accommodated, if required. The downstairs Lounge is designed for total relaxation. It has large folding glass doors facing the sea, opening wide to the entertainment Terrace, Swimming pool and Jacuzzi spa. Adjacent to the Lounge is the formal Dining room with its beautiful mahogany table and seating for 6 guests. Immediately out from the Dining room is the outdoor Bale where the cool afternoon breezes can be found. The Entertainment Terrace also provides an informal dining area under the balcony for that relaxed barbeque lunch or dinner. Here you can find the sundecks to relax and soak up the sun by the Pool and Spa. Alternatively, relax under the two large Chumplung trees down near the water’s edge of the private white sand beach.

Villa Pantai Staff
Staff members live on site in their own quarters and can be available 24/7 if required. For security reasons this will give you peace of mind when staying at Villa Pantai.

Length of Stay
A week at Villa Pantai is probably the minimum you will need. It generally takes most guests 3 or 4 days to un-wind. If it is your first time at the Villa, then it is recommended that two weeks is just right. But three weeks is even better. There are so many activities available in and around East Bali, that three weeks would just be enough time to take it all in.

Be Organized
Yes you’re in Bali for a holiday and to chill out. But you will find that if you don’t organize your day to some extent, then the days will fly by without you doing anything to remember. If you need some help organizing your day then speak with your Villa Manager, Gusti. He can make arrangements for all your daily activities for you. Be specific with what you want or need from your Villa Manager Gusti and every effort will be made to organize it for you.

Meals
A Continental Breakfast is included as part of your rate package. If you wish to have a cooked or alternative breakfast you should speak with your Villa Manager Gusti. He can arrange alternative meals for a small extra charge. For lunch and snacks we have a limited menu available featuring Western and Indonesian favourites. Prices are listed on the menu. For dinner, if you wish to dine-in, you need to speak with our Villa Manager Gusti in the morning regarding your request. Alternatively, Candi Dasa offers some fine restaurants for you to dine at. Ask our Villa Manager Gusti for his recommendations and to arrange transport if required.

Dietary Requirements
If you have some special dietary requirements. Your Villa Manager Gusti is happy to prepare delicious meals to your particular tastes or dietary requirements. He can also recommend cafés or restaurants that cater for people with such special requirements. Please make your request to our Villa Manager Gusti upon arrival at the Villa.

Electricity
East Bali is known to have power black outs during times of heavy loads on the power grid. However, they do not occur very often but they do happen. Having a torch with you would be a good idea. There are also candles available from Gusti. When the power goes off, so too the water pump. The Villa has bore water and the pump will go off when there is a power failure. Also, we provide AC power adaptors for Australian appliances in each Suite. For other adaptors, please speak to our Villa Manager Gusti.

Water
As mentioned, we use bore water at the Villa. It is not recommended that you drink the tap water. Although the water looks crystal clear, it is not safe to drink. There is always bottled water in the fridge at the bar and two bottles are provided in each Suite per person per day.

Terrazzo Flooring
The terrazzo flooring is beautiful, but deadly. With wet feet they are more slippery than an ice skating rink. Please take extreme care and make sure your feet are dry especially if you have just been in the pool or spa. Please keep your children under close supervision at all times to avoid any accidents. Terrazzo is a very porous stone surface and is highly sensitive to red wine and other acidic liquids. Please remove the wine or other liquids immediately.

Tipping
In every other hotel in Bali, a service charge of 10% or more is added to your bill as a tipping charge. This is then shared by the staff on a monthly basis. At Villa Pantai we don’t add a service charge on top of your accommodation bill. Therefore, we encourage you to leave a tip with our Villa Manager Gusti to share with the other staff. This should be in accordance with your level of satisfaction with the service they have provided you.

The Swimming Pool and Spa
The focal point of the Entertainment Terrace is the crystal clear water of the infinity style Swimming pool and Jacuzzi spa. The Swimming pool is a 6 x 3 metres and 2 metres deep infinity style that gives the illusion of swimming into the ocean on the horizon. The pool is tiled with rich royal blue ceramic tiles imported from Italy especially for this pool and spa. In the late afternoon the pool and entertainment areas are shaded by the two huge Chumplung trees and cooled by the afternoon sea breezes from the Indian Ocean.

Entertainment
The entertainment Terrace is complete with sun decks, umbrellas and outdoor dining facilities. This is the area for all day relaxing. Morning sunbathing and in the afternoon you can catch the cooling sea breezes. When evening comes, relax again with friends for a barbeque or that outdoor dining experience. The Terrace overlooks the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean with the mystical Island of Nusa Penida in the background. Watch the ever changing landscape on the waters of the Indian Ocean with the Ferries coming and going from Lombok Island and the myriad of fishing boats going about their business. As night falls, watch the spectacular crimson sunsets to the West over the mountains and the ocean. Relaxing on the Terrace is sheer heaven on a balmy Balinese day.

Pool and Spa
Unlike in Australia and other parts of the world, Bali does not have laws governing the fencing of Swimming Pools and Spas. Consequently, the pool and spa at the Villa are not fenced and are open to all guests. Pools and spas, just like the beach and the surf, are dangerous places if you’re not careful. Please exercise extreme caution when using the Pool or Spa. If you are accompanied by small or young children, please ensure they are supervised at all times. Never take your eyes off them for a moment, as accidents can happen very quickly.

Medical Services
If you are in need of general medical services, we can recommend a local English speaking doctor located in Buitan, Manggis. If however, you require more specialized medical services then it would be best to contact the various Western based hospitals such as BIMC or SOS in Kuta. Please speak with your Villa Manager Gusti for more information regarding your choice of service.

A laundry service is available at the Villa for a small additional charge. Please allow 24 hours for processing. Speak with your Villa Manager Gusti if you require this service.

Organised Tours
At Villa Pantai we have available to us the exclusive services of a professional English speaking driver with an air-conditioned motor vehicle. The vehicle can seat up to seven people and the driver and the car are available for hire. Hire costs are from Half Day USD$35 and Full Day USD$55. Please speak with your Villa Manager Gusti if you require this service. He can put together full or half day sightseeing adventure packages for you. Local attractions include the Royal Baths at Tirta Gangga; the ancient “Bali Aga” village of Teganan; the Royal Summer Palace at Ujung; or further afield to the Besakih Temple on the slopes of Mt Agung. There is also Lake Batur and Kintamani where you can view the volcanoes and the mountain lakes; or closer to home the Palace of Justice in Klungkung and then on the way home visit the bat Caves at Goa Lawah.
We highly recommend that you hire a car and driver (although car rentals are available in Candi Dasa). Driving in Bali can be very dangerous for foreigners who are unfamiliar with the local road laws and customs.
If you prefer an alternative, you could hire bicycles in Candi Dasa. Cycling is a very cheap mode of transportation whilst increasing your fitness levels at the same time. Be very careful when riding bicycles on the roads in Bali, as they are very narrow and dangerous.

Location
Villa Asada is located ten minutes’ drive from the quiet seaside village of Candidasa, which boasts a rich heritage close to many of Bali’s most important historical landmarks and attractions. The famous Amankila resort (part of the Aman group of luxury hotels) is visible from the villa.

This beautiful, undeveloped area is set well away from the hustle and bustle of mainstream tourism in the Island’s magnificent eastern regency of Karangasem—an exotic royal Balinese kingdom of forests and mighty mountains, emerald rice terraces, islands, beaches, temples and palaces.

There are plenty of restaurants in Candidasa. Visitors can shop for bargains in vibrant local markets or enjoy cultural performances of Hindu dance epics. The villa is a great base from which to visit ancient kingdoms and mystical palaces, including Puri Agung Karangasem in the centre of Amlapura, as well as the Taman Ujung Water Palace, and the complex of bathing pools known as Tirta Gangga.

More energetic activities include rafting dramatic rivers, cycling through gently swaying fields of rice, climbing mighty volcanoes, and snorkelling or scuba diving into an exotic world of psychedelic fish. Prestigious neighbours include two of the best resorts in Bali, Amankila and Alila Manggis.

The nearby village of Tenganan is a unique 700-year-old walled community hidden within the hills. One of Bali’s original pre-Hindu settlements and a stronghold of native traditions, the residents practise a time-honoured lifestyle based around ritual and ceremony. Visitors are welcomed during daylight hours, with many of the houses also functioning as shops and workshops where expert craftsmen and women perform their centuries’ old skills.

Just a few kilometres away, Padangbai is a major harbour for ferries to Lombok as well as for smaller boats to Nusa Penida. It is a very picturesque village, with semi-circular hills surrounding a sparkling blue bay and sandy beach. The best beach in the locality is the peaceful Pasir Putih, a white sand crescent-shaped beach bordered by coconut groves. A few small bamboo and thatch warungs serve food and cold drinks.

Family Attractions in the area include the Bali Safari & Marine Park, and the Odyssey Submarine Adventure, an ideal activity for those who would like to witness the marine life under the ocean without having to scuba dive.

Villa Atas Awan is a serene complex of two magnificent wooden houses separated by a stunning 30 meter swimming pool. The houses, perched on a hillside among rice paddies 20 minutes north of Ubud, provide grand vistas of Bali’s central mountain range. The expansive gardens, pool decks and open sitting areas on the first and second floors of the house provide wonderful spaces for outdoor living.

The houses, which are over 100 years old, were transported from Java and reconstructed on former rice paddies on the edge of a small village. The only sounds heard at Villa Atas Awan are those of nature; birds, insects and the occasional crow of a rooster. After a day relaxing in the peace and serenity of Villa Atas Awan a trip to the small, artistic town of Ubud feels like a visit to a bustling city.

Ubud, which is reached by driving through small villages and picturesque rice paddies , is Bali’s artistic capital. All manner of artist, whether working in stone, paint, wood or ceramic is located in Ubud. The town boasts arts galleries, shops, a wide variety of restaurants as well as cultural shows, bookstores and supermarkets. Ubud is approximately 75 minutes from Bali’s international airport.

The houses, which were built by two brothers, reflect their love of outdoor living and Balinese art. In total there are seven bedrooms that can easily accommodate 14 or more people. The complex is ideal for groups whether they be families, seminars, yoga retreats or other groups. The 30 meter pool is perfect for relaxing or for those who like more strenuous exercise such as swimming laps. The house has 4 full time staff with a driver on call. Villa Atas Awan is ably managed by Miss Rita Dewi and her staff at Red Lotus Bali. The Red Lotus staffs, including the house manager at Villa Atas Awan, are all fluent English speakers.

Our staff will provide you with daily breakfast, keep the house clean and comfortable and provide you with suggestions and information to make your stay more enjoyable. Accommodation

One enters Villa Atas Awan through the outer courtyard which is graced with a beautiful fountain, pond and Balinese statues. Climbing the stairs through double Balinese doors the first sight is of another tranquil fountain surrounded by a plethora of tropical plants. A path leads left to Villa Atas and left to Villa Awan.

Both villas are century old wooden houses reconstructed in a quiet rural setting The houses, which have been updated with modern baths and electrical appliances, are anchored by solid pillars of ironwood and finished in teak and other tropical woods.

Both houses have a spacious ground floor living area. Open on all sides, except when guests wish to lower protective shutters, the ground floor contains living and dining space as well as the kitchen. Large decks surround the houses on three sides. Both houses have couches and chairs made of natural materials for relaxing on the ground floor. The dining tables, both hewn from native wood, sit 10 in Villa Atas and 12 in Villa Awan. Villa Awan also provides a smaller breakfast area adjacent to the kitchen while Villa Atas has a comfortable Balinese day bed overlooking the pool that is perfect for relaxing.

Both villas have separate outdoor bath and shower areas on the ground floor. These areas, created of natural stone and terrazzo, are wonderful examples of local craftsmanship.

Villa Atas comfortably sleeps six in queen size beds in three bedrooms. The guest bedrooms all have large bath tubs and showers. This villa has a one of kind infinity bath tub in rear of the house on the second floor with magnificent views of a river gorge as well as rice paddies in the distance. The second floor suites in both houses have sliding glass panels that open to beautiful vistas of mountains and rice paddies.

Villa Awan sleeps eight in two twin bedded rooms, a guest room with a king sized bed and the master bedroom with a beautiful hand built Balinese bed. The second floor of Villa Awan has two large baths with both bath tubs and showers for the three second floor guest bedrooms. Both of the villas have wonderful outdoor decks with comfortable sitting arrangements that are perfect for enjoying the tropical breezes that keep Villa Atas Awan so comfortable.

The top floor of both houses, like the bridge of a ship over- looking a sea of green, comprises the spacious master suites. Each suite has a unique bathroom which boast large bathtubs and rain head showers as well as beautiful views over the countryside. Each master suite also boast is own small outdoor deck which are perfect to view both sunrise and the approach of the moon.

The stylish 3 bedroom villa is an ideal family vacation home. Built on 400 m of land and completed in 2008, it is used regularly by the owners so is well looked after. Designed in a mixed Balinese and Javanese style, it offers outdoor Bali style living at its best.

Master Bedroom.
The master has a king sized bed, with a wooden frame and draped mosquito net. There is a cushioned recessed daybed in one corner and a desk in front of the window. The large wardrobe has enough space for clothes and shoes. A terrazzo floor retains coolness through the day. An exposed beam alang alang ceiling is in traditional Balinese style. The tall windows and cream and beige colour scheme keeps the room light and airy.

The huge en suite bathroom is beautifully tiled with high quality bathroom fixtures and wooden fittings. It has an enormous freestanding bath tub and a large separate shower, with views to the sky.

The Living Area.
The living area is a 100 year old recovered Javanese joglo with a pendopo roof. It has an exquisitely carved ceiling. You recline on antique javanese furniture. There is a TV and DVD player and a selection of DVDs.

The Kitchen
The kitchen is well equipped and you can cook here. There is an oven for baking. There is a BBQ for grilling; our staff can obtain charcoal when needed.

Dining Area.
The dining pavilion has a teak dining table for 8, and is decorated with Balinese decorations.
Roof Terrace Above the second and third bedrooms is a tiled roof terrace with recliners for sun worship and a table and chairs for eating or sipping a cool sundowner as the sun sets over the sea and skies turn pink and gold.

Bedroom 2 and 3.
The second and third bedrooms feature queen size beds, batik hangings and Balinese decorations. Both open onto a view of the pool. There is strong air conditioning and mosquito nets.
The ensuite bathrooms are elegantly tiled with a mixture of natural stone and terrazzo.

The Garden & Pool.
The garden at Pakis Merah has a number of indiginous plants including frangipani trees and bougainvillea. Carvings sit among the foliage. The front gate is a traditional Balinese design. When you enter the gate you must immediately turn to enter the garden; such turns are vital to keep evil spirits out!

The pool is 3 meters x 15 meters and 175 cm deep, ideal for a good morning swim. There is a garden shower. At night pool and garden lights make for pure Balinese romance.

There is a long board for surfers and boogie boards which can be taken to the beach.

At the back in the storeroom is a washing machine, but there are laundries in the village too. The house has a safe for valuables.
